Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA)

The role of AGRA is to provide technical services for the management of the Risk Sharing Facility and Business Support Services. AGRA invests in and partners with other organizations. Over the last ten years, AGRA has engaged hundreds of partners in the public and private sector who are working directly with African farmers, African businesses and African governments to lay the groundwork for economic growth through agriculture.

Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC)

Agricultural Finance Corporation Kshs. 370 Million for Risk Sharing facility on loans advanced to smallholders, SMEs and other market intermediaries in the dairy, horticulture, livestock and cereals value chains.

RAFIKI (MFB)

Rafiki MFB is allocated a Credit Facility of KShs 94,300,000 for onward lending to rural agricultural sector focusing on dairy, cereals, horticulture and livestock value chains

KWFT (MFB)

KWFT MFB is allocated a Credit Facility of KShs 205,100,000 for onward lending to rural agricultural sectorfocusing on dairy, cereals, horticulture and livestock value chains

FAULU (MFB)

Faulu MFB is allocated a Credit Facility of KShs 200,200,000 for onward lending to rural agricultural sector focusing on dairy, cereals, horticulture and livestock value chains

SMEP (MFB)

SMEP MFB is allocated a Credit Facility of KShs 100,400,000 for onward lending to rural agricultural sector focusing on dairy, cereals, horticulture and livestock value chains

Barclays Bank of Kenya

Barclays Bank of Kenya is allocated Kshs 320 Million for Risk Sharing facility on loans advanced to smallholders, SMEs and other market intermediaries in the dairy, horticulture, livestock and cereals value chains.

CARE Kenya

CARE implements Financial graduation pilot project in Mwingi sub-county of Kitui County. They support 1,000 beneficiaries, comprising 70% youth (men and women) and 30% women. Support provided include business management skills, business start-up capital, health insurance cover, consumption stipend and a mobile hand set.

BRAC USA

BRAC USA is a large international development organization dedicated to empowering people living in poverty. They have extensive experience managing financial graduation programmes in a variety of contexts in different countries. BRAC USA provides technical support to BOMA and CARE in the planning and implementation of the Financial Graduation Pilot Project in Samburu and Kitui counties respectively. BRAC’s knowledge management functions include generation of lessons learnt which build on the impact of the program. It organizes annual workshops to explore linkages with key stakeholders including Hunger Safety Net Programme (HSNP), National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) among others and promote learning from the pilot projects to ensure sustainability of project outcomes.

BOMA Project

BOMA implements the Financial Graduation pilot project in Samburu County. They support 450 groups with business support, each composed of three persons (1350 women in total). BOMA further targets 250 one person businesses or 250 women. The support to identified beneficiaries includes monthly consumption stipend, health insurance cover, mobile phone, businessstart-up capital and business management skills.
